THE JOHNNY QUINN MACS
SATURDAY 23RD NOVEMBER 2024
THE CROSSING, DIGBETH
John McSherry, Brendán Quinn and Francis McIlduff got together at Belfast’s Féile Trad Trail 2022.
John is a major figure in Irish music. A piper and whistle-player, he is a composer, producer, arranger, and studio musician of world renown, having worked with Sinéad O’Connor, Rod Stewart, Nanci Griffith, The Corrs and Clannad. A founder member of Lunasa, Tamalin, Donal Lunny's Coolfin, and leader of the olllam, John has produced a string of acclaimed albums, solo and collaborative.
Brendán tours the world as a singer-songwriter and guitar accompanist. Influenced by his love of Irish music and language, his ability to convey the stories of strangers and his own experiences has created his distinctive, captivating style.
Francis debuted with his family band, the legendary Clann McPeake, in the 1980’s. A multi-instrumentalist, he has featured with Alias Ron Kavana, Afterhours, Sin É and At First Light, the band in which Francis and John created their trademark “dualling pipes” sound.
Féile Live was recorded live in just sixteen hours at Dónal O’Connor’s Redbox Studios. Since its launch in autumn 2023, The Johnny Quinn Macs have become firmly established in Ireland, toured England and Wales twice, and appeared at festivals including Ennis, Lorient and Wickham.
